Introduction

In the current context there is increasing interest in repoliticizing the 'economy' and rethinking its systemic and centered representations. Movements of resistance such as the anti-globalization movement are one way forward. Another is the elaboration of new economic representations and active performances of economic innovation.

Diverse imaginaries and performances include not only practical demonstrations of alternative economic activity such as social economy institutions, worker co-operatives, local exchange and trading systems, credit unions and the like but also new theorizations of economic systems, dynamics, development and transition.

This webspace is a place for imagining diverse and alternative ways of representing and performing 'economy'.It provides a space for conversations among geographers across the globe interested in thinking and researching beyond conventional economic representations. The site is designed for postings of finished and working papers, commentary, book reviews, course syllabi and dialogues that engage broadly and openly with a rethinking of economy (as we have known it). It is also a place where forthcoming events organized by the group will be advertised.
